The Ministry of Digital Governance has completed the design and implementation phase of the new National Interoperability Framework in collaboration with the International Hellenic University and other academic institutions. The new National Interoperability Framework complies with the requirements of the applicable European and Greek legislation, as well as the European Interoperability Framework (EIF), which was approved by the European Commission on March 23, 2017 (COM (2017) 134), providing specific guidelines for the creation of interoperable digital public services.
The new National Framework is accompanied by a comprehensive Governance Model that will ensure its sustainability through the public participation of all stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, as well as an Implementation Guide, which will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and evaluation of major ICT projects and the development of integrated interoperable public services. Once the consultation phase of the new Framework with stakeholders is completed, the process of institutionalization and implementation will follow.

This research is an in-depth look into the economic dimension of privacy. Privacy remains an important issue for electronic commerce and behind privacy intrusion there is often an economic trade-off. Individuals want to avoid the misuse of the information but at the same time they want to share enough information to achieve interactions; enterprises and organisations want to know more about those with which they interact, but they do not want to alienate them with policies deemed as intrusive.
Our aim is to develop and apply techniques, processes and measures that protect privacy, as well as to contribute in a conceptual model which applies an economic point of view to the study of Privacy and Personal Data Protection.
Specifically, privacy economics research includes the following goals:
i. Consumers’ behavior analysis regarding to Privacy Enhancing Technologies – PET and measures to protect their privacy, emphasizing to e-commerce envirinments.
ii. The Requirements Attributes that Privacy Enhancing Technologies – PET must have, so that they become acceptable and can be used effectively.
iii. The development of a decision-making model for investments in Data Protection, Information Privacy and Security Measures, which would take into account that “Risk” cannot be eliminated entirely as it arises in individuals’ daily transactions.
iv. The development of a general model that would allow the economic empact assessment method of alternative regulatory measures for data privacy protection.
