University of the Aegean awards innovative digital entrepreneurship
Among more than 15 new ideas presented in the final phase of the hackathon, two teams were awarded by the University of the Aegean:
The PowerRangers team, with graduates from the National Technical University of Athens, which aims to develop a system for negotiating electric power from renewable sources—an application that can take advantage of the evolving regulatory framework in Greece and the European Union.
The FIN-PI team, with senior students from the University of Piraeus, who presented an innovative application to assist elderly people and individuals with disabilities in conducting banking transactions using smart agents (bots).
The two awarded teams were each offered a scholarship of €2,500 for enrolling in the postgraduate programs of the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering at the University of the Aegean, in the fields of “e-Governance” and “Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship” respectively, for the academic year 2018-2019, provided that the candidates meet the necessary academic criteria.
Giannis Charalambidis, Associate Professor at the University of the Aegean, in the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering and a member of the competition evaluation committee, stated: “We are very pleased to support the ideas of young students and graduates from our country’s universities in the fields of e-governance and entrepreneurship. We hope that these young people will take full advantage of the postgraduate programs we have offered, so they can bring their dreams closer to reality in a systematic way, through the family of the University of the Aegean.
