On Tuesday, April 1st, students from the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering at the University of the Aegean, as part of the 4th-year course “Digital Governance,” visited the Municipality of Western Samos. The purpose of the visit was to inform the students about the current issues and important projects of the Municipality, as well as to discuss their potential contribution to the digital advancement of the Municipality.

During the visit, the students had the opportunity to:

  1. Learn about the digital services the Municipality offers to citizens.
  2. Get acquainted with the digital transformation projects currently underway.
  3. Engage in discussions with Municipality officials about the challenges and opportunities of digital governance.
  4. Propose ideas and solutions for improving the Municipality’s digital services.

Yiannis Charalabidis, professor at the department and instructor of the “Digital Governance” course, commented:
“This visit was a valuable experience for our students, as it allowed them to connect theoretical knowledge with practical application and contribute to the development of the local community. In the coming months, our students will implement original projects to support the Municipality’s digital transformation while gaining valuable hands-on experience. We thank the Municipality officials who responded to our invitation.”
